Each class begins with mythic storytelling, interpretive symbolism and mantra practice to awaken our creativity and imagination. Then we become the story through breath based vinyasa flow classes sequenced to embody the qualities of the heroic heart. Come ready for story time, continuous breath based rhythmic movement, intelligent and progressive sequencing all while working hard, playing deeply and getting your sweat on. The story of the Boar, Varaha, inspires this FUNdamentals of flow class. This instructionally based vinyasa class breaks down sun salutations and common vinyasa sequencing to deeper levels of clarity and proficiency. Varaha’s story is about discerning the difference between truth and lies and how to lay claim to the experience of earthen stability (Adhara Chakra; Pelvic Center). All Levels
Thursday 20 July 9:30am-12pm—Garuda Flow
The story of the Eagle, Garuda, inspires this FUNdamentals of flow class. We will build on the lessons of Varaha Flow to further your skill and fluidity in sun salutations, linked standing poses, balancing poses, arm balances, hip openers and forward bends. Garuda’s tale is of the expanded soaring consciousness that dives down into the waters of the Nabhi Chakra (Navel Center) to grab the serpent (Kundalini) and create nourishment out of what would otherwise be poison. Friday 21 July 9:30am-12pm—Hanuman Flow
The story of the Monkey, Hanuman, inspires this full spectrum peak pose flow class of sun salutations, standing poses, hip openers and forward bends to culminate in peak arm balance poses. Hanuman’s tale is of the heroic heart’s (Hrdaya Chakra) ability to fluently shape shift, playfully adapt and skillfully leap the ocean of consciousness in service of the divine. Intermediate Level
Saturday 22 July 10am-12:30pm—Narasimha Flow
The story of the Man-Lion, Narasimha, inspires this full spectrum peak pose vinyasa class culminating in arm balancing and hip opening poses. Narasimha’s tale is one of the ferocious heat (fire) that yogis summon to transform and alchemize ones’ demonic and destructive liabilities into life affirming assets. Narasimha represents the horizontal plexus of the body (diaphragm and/or palate) and the Kantha Chakra (Throat Center). Intermediate Level
Sunday 23 July 10am-12:30pm— Hayagriva Flow
The story of the Horse, Hayagriva, inspires this culminating peak sequence vinaysa class. We will integrate and use the lessons from the previous classes to build further into complex sequencing and exciting climaxes. Hayagriva’s tale is of the wandering horse consciousness that is the domain of the heroic and sovereign yogi. Hayagriva represents the element of space and the Bruhmadya Chakra (Third Eye Center). Life in the modern world allows us to burn the candle at both ends AND in the middle, creating states of burnout and exhaustion for many of us.
Decades of research has shown that certain types of meditation allow the body to enter a state of rest deeper than sleep, while the mind remains active and alert. This creates profound rejuvenation and healing, even if we only practice for a short time each day. In order to receive the benefits of meditation, there is a set of skills you need to learn and have at your fingertips.
In this experiential workshop, we will be exploring a variety of doorways into meditative restfulness. The techniques you’ll learn are surprisingly natural and instinctive.
The combined teaching experience of Dr. Lorin Roche, and his wife Camille Maurine spans 6 decades. With a doctorate from The University of California in meditation research, Lorin is a prolific author on the subject of meditation, having written many books including the best selling Meditation Made Easy, as well as The Radiance Sutras. Together they penned Meditation Secrets for Women. Alison Potts of Innate Being in Brisbane has over twenty years experience developing inner and outer practices for healing and thriving. She has studied extensively with both Lorin and Camille and is their first certified meditation teacher in Australia.
